Here at Cloudcroft Municipal Schools, we have used the finer points of athletics as an extension of the classroom, in order to teach our student-athletes the merits of teamwork and friendly competition. Cloudcroft High School is a member in the New Mexico Athletics Association (NMAA) and competes as a class 1A school.
Cloudcroft High will be competing in the following varsity sports: Boys Football, Boys and Girls Cross Country, Girls Volleyball (fall), Boys and Girls Basketball, and Track (spring). Due to travel constraints, we will compete in district and non-district competition. We will face some very good competition, and the athletes will get several opportunities to travel to our away games.
In the past, the Cloudcroft Schools staff has stressed the importance of academics to all of our sports and club participants. This year will be no different. All Cloudcroft athletes are students first, and athletes second. For anyone to participate in a sport, he or she has to maintain a passing grade in all of their classes. Failure to do so will result in suspension, and ultimately dismissal, from any team in which they participate. So, to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate and contribute to something positive, we ask that all parents stress the importance of academics.
This is going to be an exciting year for Cloudcroft athletes! Let’s Go Bears!
We invite students in good academic standing to participate in sports. Athletics help build physical fitness, teach goal-setting, and help children become well-rounded adults. Here are the sports we offer:
