Let me start by letting you all know what a great beginning of a school year it has been. Our enrollment is at 120 students and I am always amazed at how well our student body embraces a sense of “diversity”; getting along with one another is our strength at Cloudcroft High School!
To that point, we have three foreign exchange students and they seem to be adjusting just fine. Two are from Germany and one from Ghana.
Our “Faculty Family” this year is down to eleven and is doing a tremendous job getting things in place for our students. It has been a whirlwind in regards to getting schedules in place and ensuring that the curriculum is being delivered as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Mrs. Morales is working around the clock to make sure students are being placed appropriately. The great things about being a smaller school, can at times, also make things a bit more difficult. A huge “THANKS” to everyone for doing their part!
Extracurricular activities seem to be ramping up also. Athletics for the Fall are moving right along. Football and Volleyball should have exciting and competitive seasons after having made the move to 1A school. They are supported by our solid squad of cheerleaders…who are always full of “Bear Pride”.
A round of recognition needs to go out to the custodial staff for their efforts in making our campus look fantastic! The work needed to make a school a second home is never done! Again, a big hand to our students for assisting in this effort as well!
Well, I think I’ve covered some points of interest and some areas to be recognized, especially those that have helped us off to a great new school year. So, let’s all join in together to continue to make this year one of the best ever!!
GO BEARS!!

Welcome Back! There have been lots of exciting additions and changes going on in the district, and you are looking at one of them—Bear Necessities! This monthly newsletter’s goal is to help keep the parents and community informed about school happenings, recognitions, and more. The gauntlet was thrown and the Publications class has picked it up. We want to keep you up-to-date about everything BEAR related.
Publications Class was issued a few other challenges as well. The biggest one we will be working on is a spring delivery of the school yearbook. A spring delivery means the students will be issued the yearbook in May. That way they will have a greater opportunity to get their book signed by their friends before the end of the school year.
While this option will please many people (students and parents alike), it does present a few hitches. First, yearbook presales will have to be boosted; expect a bunch of memo/fliers/notes advertising the reservation dates and costs. Second, if you have helped to support the program in the past with the purchase of ad space, we will be needing those ads {and payments} sooner than before. Thirdly, our senior class will have to move up their graduation photos and “baby” photos deadlines. And lastly, we will also have to move up the deadline for personalization on the yearbook. This means if you want your student’s yearbook to include his/ her name, we will have to have those in by December. Any delay in ordering could cause a shipping delay. It is going to require a lot of motivation and hard work on the behalf of the Publications Class, but I think they are up for the challenge.
Another project that the class has accepted is the publication of a district literary magazine. The magazine will highlight prose, poetry, artwork, and [hopefully] photography inspired and created by all of the Cloudcroft Bears...Pre-School through Seniors. If all goes well, this could become a yearly publication recognizing local talent.
So, stay tuned for more information about deadlines and the latest edition of…
bear necessities.
