MEMORANDUM
TO: Parents, Staff, and Students
CC: Board of Education
FROM: Glena Muncrief, Superintendent
SUBJECT: Closing of School for Inclement Weather
DATE: November 3, 2003
Cloudcroft Municipal Schools will follow these practices for inclement weather.
In most cases, school will remain open regardless of the amount of snow that falls. The staff will be on duty and classes will be conducted. Buses will make their regular runs IF IT IS POSSIBLE, FEASIBLE, AND SAFE.
If a driver feels it is not POSSIBLE, FEASIBLE, AND SAFE to travel, the driver will notify me (or my designee) and then notify the families on the route. This notification from the drivers will be made at the earliest possible time, preferably before 6:30 AM. In the event that I am not available, Mrs. Amy Lane or Mr. Fred Wright will be the designee.
If parents determine that it is not POSSIBLE, FEASIBLE, AND SAFE for their children to attend school, parents should not send them. Parents should call their child’s school to report the reason for absence or, on the first day back in school, students must bring a written note from the parent stating the reason for the absence. The absence will be excused.
In the event of extreme conditions, the school may be forced to open on a delayed schedule or close. Notification will be given to the mountain communities through area TV and radio stations.
