TRANSPORTATION CONCERN
Student safety is always at the forefront of public school transportation. The rules and regulations of the State of New Mexico regarding public school student transportation were developed with this in mind.
School bus routes and stops are established pursuant to State Statute: 22-16-4; NMSA, which stipulates that no school bus route shall be maintained for a lesser distance than:
1) K-6th 1 mile; one way
2) 7-8th 1 ½ miles, one way
3) 9th – 12th 2 miles, one way
Providing transportation within these walk zones is a violation of NM State Statute, unless it falls under the hazardous exemption. If you feel that a bus route/stop meets this exception, please complete the following form and return it to the Cloudcroft Schools Department of Transportation and the area will be assessed.
