A Message From Our Superintendent

July 2025

Dear Bears,

Summer is in full swing, and what a gift it is to enjoy the crisp, refreshing mountain air and the much-needed moisture gracing our forests and trails. I hope this break brings each of you moments of peace and rejuvenation. Take this time to rest, recharge, and soak in the beauty around us before we come together once again for another successful school year!

The 2025–2026 school year kicks off on July 30th with professional development for our dedicated staff to prepare for a remarkable school year for our students who will return on August 6. Be sure to join us for our annual Back-to-School BBQ in early August, along with Open Houses and high school class meetings. For specific dates and times, please visit the district calendar on our website—we’re excited for all that the new year has in store!

At press time, our TSA Team was competing at the National Competition in Nashville. I am very proud to have such an innovative group of students representing Cloudcroft! Check out our Facebook page to learn about their success.

Also, at press time, Logan McNeil was on his way to Nashville to compete in the National SkillsUSA Competition. We will follow up with his success on our social media pages!

Our Summer Youth Program is in full swing. They have been participating in many activities – arts & crafts, reading programs, scavenger hunts and swimming! I want to thank our director, Marion Parker, for keeping this Cloudcroft tradition alive and going for our community children. A huge thank you to Written in Red and the Yates Family Foundation for their generous donations to help create the many learning activities for our youth and to keep our program running well.

At our June school board meeting, we had some very generous donations:

  • Cloudcroft United Methodist Church Inc. for the Summer Youth Program – $500
  • Mesa Verde Enterprises, Inc. for the Athletic Program – $750
  • Cindy Buttram for our Band program – Tuba $4500

Thank you all for supporting our programs and our students!!

I encourage all of our families to regularly visit our website for important updates, including the 2025–2026 school calendar, updated handbooks, and other key information. Staying informed and actively engaged in our school community plays a vital role in supporting our students’ success and creating a strong partnership between home and school.

Enjoy the rest of your summer! See you next month!
