A Message From Our Superintendent
November 2025
Dear Bears,
Quarter two is always a busy time for schools, and the Cloudcroft campus is no exception! With the cooler weather comes the Fall Festival, athletics recognitions, and continued opportunities to build community and support student growth. From fall sports to college fairs, PSAT/SAT testing, chess club, and fire prevention day, our fall calendar has been wonderfully packed!
As our first quarter came to an end on October 10, we have enjoyed many enriching events for the CMS community. On October 3, Counselor Adkins hosted a college fair, providing students with an opportunity to carefully review and engage with the institutions of their choice. On October 8, we hosted an FSA ID night at the high school, followed by a well-attended “Meet the School Board Candidates” event. The elementary/middle School held its spook-tacular literacy event on October 16 – a wonderful event with student-led activities for all! FFA students visited the third-grade classroom to learn about pollution, and we all practiced our reunification procedures during a school-wide drill. The weekend of October 18, the TSA officer team represented Cloudcroft schools at the CTSO Fall Leadership Rally in Albuquerque.
Our second Bear Facts meeting on October 22 offered a continued discussion on school safety, Cloudcroft’s graduate profile, IDEA-B, attendance for success, and our upcoming bond election. October 23, we honored our scholars: elementary honor roll, middle school honor roll, and National Honor Society induction. On October 28, we held an incredibly exciting ribbon-cutting ceremony, complete with a hot air balloon on our grounds, for new STEM facilities in the elementary/middle school. Last but certainly not least, we enjoyed a wonderful costume procession down Burro St. at 2:00 p.m. on October 31.
The month of November marks the closing of football, volleyball, and cross country season, and all the fun championship games that come with it. We are so proud of our Bear athletes for their commitment to their sport as well as to their academics. Basketball season will kick off, and our cheerleaders and band will continue bringing their pep and spirit. Monday, November 3 will be a regular school day, and Tuesday, November 4 will be a holiday for Election Day. Please get out and vote! On Tuesday, November 11, we will honor veterans with connections to Cloudcroft during our Veterans’ Day assembly. Finally, we will all take the last week of November off for Thanksgiving, with much gratitude.
This year, voters will see the GO bond on their November ballot. This bond is commonly used to fund school renovations, reconstruction, building improvements, and equipment upgrades. Among many exciting projects, bond funds have already allowed us to upgrade our weight room, construct our much-needed bus barn, and provide significant upgrades at our elementary/middle school, including new windows, doors, locker rooms, and bathrooms. With future bond funds, CMS will continue to upgrade our facilities, create more classroom space, focus on school safety, and create modern, welcoming learning environments that support student success for years to come. These projects protect the taxpayers’ investment in our buildings and assure school facilities are safe, functional places for teaching and learning. Cloudcroft students need your support! Vote by 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
As a reminder, the Cloudcroft board of education will hold its November regular meeting on Tuesday, November 18th, 2025, in the newly renovated boardroom. Please join us.
Go, Bears!
